Dealing with dry winter skin?
One thing I find very beneficial this time of year is Shea Butter. Shea is a creamy-colored waxy substance made from the nuts of karite trees that grow wild in the savannah regions of Africa. It is similar to compounds formed by the body's own sebaceous glands. While shea butter has a wide variety of applications, it is most well known for its exceptional dermatological and cosmetic healing properties. Shea butter is full of vitamins like A, E and F (fatty acids) These help rough, dry, chapped skin and are important for moisturizing, anti-aging and healing. It has properties of a natural sunscreen. and anti inflammatory benefits as well.
Great on cracked elbows, heels and cuticles, shea softens tough skin and is soothing to irritation. My personal experience is that I have used it on my cuticles for repair, and what I notice is my cuticles heal quickly AND my nails grow stronger and longer! I love this effect.
