The weather is now refreshing and crisp, and when the weather changes, our bodies change as well. Our bodies function best when they go through a natural cycles like they would in nature - you know, before living with sheet rock walls and central heaters?
Just a few short generations ago, our bodies were used to living closer to nature. We were exposed to light & temperature changes that affected our physiology. Our diet changed seasonally to whatever was available. And likely, we got much more activity. Rapid change in lifestyle has not been health conducive.
To replicate nature as best we can, it is helpful to use foods in season, get plenty of exercise and do some housekeeping and light cleansing of our bodies. When we do a cleansing regimen between seasons, our immune systems function better, we counteract the aging process, and unload stored toxins.
If you haven't already, consider a cleanse now before winter. Choose fresh light foods, fresh vegetable juices, or a short guided fast. Let's talk about the best cleanse for your system in a Natural Health Consultation. I look forward to it!
What is Grounding?
We are energetically connected to the planet we live on and are supported by. That relationship keeps us balanced and healthy.
When that connection lessens or is not as strong, it causes issues with our health. Our bodies are made to run on the earth's magnetics. Things that make us less grounded are a lot of mental activity, and vibrations such as wifi, electrical wiring, etc. that disrupt the magnetics.
Being grounded means having a strong connection to the planet. There are many ways to do this...walking barefoot, lying on the ground (really good), being around trees, feeling the bottom of your feet touch the ground as you walk, foot massage, & visualizing a strong energetic connection to the planet. In this way, the earths magnetics help our nervous system and entire being.
To do this, you can picture a wide hollow tube or tree trunk connecting the base of the spine to the earth and soles of the feet to the earth. Not to the surface, but down deep to the center and rooting in. When feeling scattered or unfocused, it helps to ground the head/mind and/or heart as well by picturing the connection and feel the flow of life energy.
It is also helpful to feel the weight of the body, feel its heaviness. The body is made of elements earth, water, fire, & air, and when any are out of balance, it will impact us.
So hug a tree, put your feet in the grass, lay on the ground, and say thank you to the planet we live on :)
Happy September! We are shifting gears, summer is winding down and kids are going back to school. It's a great time to focus on healthy eating. Consider what foods are in season: Apples, nuts, squashes, pomegranates, etc.
The appearance of a food can give us clues to what it does in the body. For instance, a walnut looks like a little brain. This tells us exactly why we want to eat it!
Walnuts nourishes the brain with healthy fats (the brain is mostly fat) that help with cognitive performance and mood. Sprinkle on salads or yogurt for added crunch!
Nuts are an underrated snack, with vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and fiber. They are easier to digest when used as nut butters or soaked overnight. Add soaked nuts to smoothies or munch alone.
I would love to share more tips that are targeted toward your health concerns. Lets' address your health issues naturally during a NATURAL HEALTH CONSULTATION
This will help build your body's stamina and vitality. Or choose an INTUITIVE CONSULT to investigate the imbalances, physical or emotional, and enjoy some deeper healing.
Checking in with yourself regularly on basic levels promotes balance.
I personally like the quick check-in....PEMS.
PEMS stands for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, or soul level.
Ask yourself -
If checking in and making corrections doesn't resolve the imbalance, the other thing to check is available resources. Is the source of stress from more outflow than inflow of resources? This doesn't have to be money, it could be time, energy, or abilities. When resources seem unavailable, it is time to get resource-ful. What do you have to work with and what resources can you ask for, generate, and create?
Sometimes we have made every effort and still cannot find balance or relief. It may be time to ask for help. As much as we hate to do it, sometimes asking for help is necessary. We live on a planet with billions of other people - maybe one reason is to help one another, not try to go at it all by ourselves.
Asking for help gives others an opportunity to connect, feel needed and useful. And there are many amazing professionals that coach, counsel and advise others. Behind all great individuals is some type of support team. Consider building one for yourself ;) And count me in as one of the members so I can support you on your journey. Digestive issues are usually related to the food we eat, and can be a response to toxins, deficiencies or imbalances in gut flora. From poor digestion and related intestinal permeability come food allergies, which can also upset the skin. Allergies can be managed or eliminated naturally, ask me how!
Also, our skin is our body's physical barrier and last defense to the world, both physically and emotionally. Issues about touch, self image and relationships can show up on the skin when one is irritated, or wants others to stay away.
Give me a call to work on skin and digestive health. We can identify the imbalances and work on any emotional components. The good news is, when we work on digestion, other symptoms may clear up as well.
No one product works for everyone. There are a million different supplements out there, and more entering the marketplace every day. We all wonder if we’re getting what we need in our diet and what supplements we should take to ensure our well-being.
Some people question if supplements even work at all. Many companies have flashy labels and claims, but do not deliver on quality. We often look to natural methods to see if anything will ease our current symptoms which can seems like a shot in the dark. Some products work for some people, but not for others. So how can we know what to take?
Have you heard of muscle testing? If you do not know much about muscle testing, except that it looks pretty hokey at first glance, then you might look deeper. This valued assessment method when done properly, is a valuable way to find what works for your body.
Muscle testing ensures that the body and supplements are in agreement and the regimen can be the most effective. The way muscle testing works is complex at best and has many variables. One explanation is from an energetic or electrical standpoint. The body’s life force energy can be seen as a flow of energy, or electricity. A supplement also has its own energy. The question is, does the energy of the supplement enhance or hinder your body’s flow of healthy energy?
In my practice, I use muscle testing along with other methods to find the right herb or complex for an individual. I also muscle test remotely where I tune into your body’s energy and find the right match for you. It is extremely accurate, and time tested.
Individuals can learn to do a self-assessment version that is very helpful and more accurate than choosing the product from a commercial, or because a friend said it worked for them.
Let’s work together to optimize your supplements, tailor them to your individual issues and constitution and show you how to do some self-assessment. Feel free to call me to discuss (805)669-9400, or MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
I wanted to share a recent experience with you and let you know of a new workshop I'm offering.
Recently, a friend of mine asked me to do a class with the staff at her office. "About what?" I asked.
"About disconnecting." She said. This amazing woman is a therapist and has many interns and therapists she works with. They all work closely with people on a daily basis. Knowing what I do, she said "They could really use some energetic tools to help them disconnect."
I did a couple of group classes with tools and information on energetic fields and how they interact during one on one meetings. It seemed they were getting a lot out of it and I realized how helpful would be for anyone working with people. This would be nurses, customer service representatives, teachers or even moms, but we all interact with the public on some level. And sometimes we come away frustrated, or feeling heavy.
When we are around people, connecting and listening, interacting, working closely with others, our energies connect, mix, create amazing things and have lots of fun together. Sometimes though, being in close proximity can cause disharmony. This disharmony can linger and affect our mood, energy level, and interactions with others. This disharmony can be energetic as well, causing disruptions in the way our energetic system flows and change the way we feel.
Take a look at the picture below.
This is an example of possible invisible communication going on during a session or conversation:
We have our own energetic field, which begins to overlap and blur with the other person, and there are unseen lines of communication taking place, like telephone wires where information is sent and gathered. Whoa! Who knew?
Most of the time these naturally connect and disconnect without a problem, but sometimes, communication is unfinished or stays connected unnecessarily. Not helpful!
In this workshop I'm offering, you can discover how to manage your own energy, and effectively connect and disconnect after interactions to be happier, more present and do a better job interacting.
I am offering as a webinar Thursday April 18th @ 10am PST/1pm EST REGISTER HERE
Also, I offer workshops on room/space clearing, balancing your personal energy, preparation for your day and healing your sleep space.
Please email or call me on my cell below if you are interested in learning about the energy system in a group or individually and we can set something up.
Ready for warmer weather? It's wonderful to get out and hike or bike in the magnificent California sunshine. Although for some, it is not that easy. An increasing number of people suffer from fatigue and chronic illness that make everyday activities a challenge.
You may not know that I used to be one of these people. I had chronic fatigue before it was en vogue and slept 10 hours a day. I could barely crawl to the bathroom and most foods caused some sort of unpleasant reaction. Then I restored my health using natural methods. That is why I do what I do!
Since then I have worked with many sufferers that have regained their health in the same way. Often, our lifestyle demands a lot on the body, including the adrenals, liver and digestive system. Coupled with the toxic load from the environment and a healthy dose of stress, the body begins to lose its reserves and break down.
It is possible to detoxify and heal the body so that normal energy levels and function return. Natural healing offers ways to strengthen, regenerate, and come into balance. Schedule a consult with me to increase your energy, stamina and overall wellness. Let's customize a healing program to your particular body type and the organs that need the most help. Schedule an appointment to create an individual wellness plan. I look forward to working with you.
Dealing with dry winter skin?
One thing I find very beneficial this time of year is Shea Butter. Shea is a creamy-colored waxy substance made from the nuts of karite trees that grow wild in the savannah regions of Africa. It is similar to compounds formed by the body's own sebaceous glands. While shea butter has a wide variety of applications, it is most well known for its exceptional dermatological and cosmetic healing properties. Shea butter is full of vitamins like A, E and F (fatty acids) These help rough, dry, chapped skin and are important for moisturizing, anti-aging and healing. It has properties of a natural sunscreen. and anti inflammatory benefits as well.
Great on cracked elbows, heels and cuticles, shea softens tough skin and is soothing to irritation. My personal experience is that I have used it on my cuticles for repair, and what I notice is my cuticles heal quickly AND my nails grow stronger and longer! I love this effect.
My friend Sumi makes an amazing product with superior ingredients that is whipped and creamy and really affordable. You can call Sumi to order: (864)399-3570 or order through my store on the website HERE. Try it and let me know what you think :)
Let's march into March with preparation for spring. If we don't prepare our bodies for seasonal changes, we can end up with colds, congestion, allergies and chronic conditions. Clean out now to prevent spring colds. Build immunity and vitality by doing some inner housekeeping. You will experience a pickup in energy as a bonus.
Vata is highest in the change of seasons, which is those characteristics of cold, thin, dry, airy, and irregular. If you already tend toward vata, time to counter with grounding foods.
As warmer weather arrives, our bodies are ready to purge from all the heavy, sugary winter foods (I know you didn't eat any of these, but I did!)
As fresh produce becomes available, it's time for more fresh, lightly cooked and raw dishes like stir-frys, wraps and salads of all kinds.
Consider foods, supplements and activities to balance your constitution. There are supplements designed for cleansing different systems, from whole body detoxes, to liver, gallbladder, kidney, colon and others.
Let me help you customize your cleanse to your particular constitution and organs that need the most help. We can check your body and give it help in the areas it needs. Make an appointment to create an individual wellness plan.
Be well, and as always, I wish you complete health and balance throughout the season <3
